About me
As a school cleaner turned eventual principal engineer I was a bit of a late bloomer (or maybe just another victim of World of Warcraft). Coding always looked like black magic
to me; never something I would be capable of doing despite being the family "IT guy", but when life forced me to make some decisions or face living with my Mum forever I decided give
it a try and once that initial domino fell I found a whole world of possibilities open up.
Programming is almost a superpower I find that allows you to bring to life the things that live in your head even when you're as artistically challenged as myself. From home automation to self-hosted cloud services,
videogames adored by all to niche apps that only you and that 1 other guy have a use case for. This endless list of possibilities is what fuels my constant curiosity and passion to try new tech despite not having a practical
use case for it; the discovery of what it is capable of is more exciting to me than the mastery and repetition of using it.
As for my personal life, when I'm not tending to my 3 cats or staying up far longer than I should trying to get something working that is destined for the graveyard of my GitHub repository, I'm either watching movies with
my wife or working through my always growing backlog on Steam. I have a huge soft spot for Horror films (especially 80s ones) and marathon a ton of them every October with my all-time favourite being John Carpenter's 'The Thing'.
